First is the avatar problem. I have a lot of pictures that I have used as avatars, but I tried about all of them this morning, and only succeeded in deleting the stock avatar that I was using from the forum list.  I found a place that I could put my pictures and then copy the link, but every time that I try to do that, I get a reply that says my avatar is  " too large, or not an avatar" .  I have no idea how to fix this problem, short of re-using the stock avatar again.

The next thing I did may or may not show up and be a problem. I had signed in, and read a thread, and replied to the topic. Somehow, the system had signed me back out; but I didn't know that until I submitted my post, and got a big notice saying there was no name, no email, etc, and then (of course), I could not find any way to delete the post.

I reposted it again after signing back in, so there might or might not be the un-approved post showing up for moderator validation.  if it does come through, please just delete it, so I won't have two of the same posts in that thread.
Sorry......

Oh, WOW ! The avatar just showed up ! ! Thank you, Bunny ! I am sure it was your little "bunny magic " that did it. You just pulled the rabbit out of the hat (so to speak), and here it is.

Ha ha it was me! Just so anyone else with avatar issues knows....If it's too big it breaks it. Also if it's external from a source where it's not seen as an image it also breaks it (that's a code thing that I don't even understand). So blog attachment sort of things may not work, some facebook images, etc.

All you need to do next time is upload it to a place like here to resize it....Our size is 125px (click the drop down and select custom):
http://www.picresize.com/

Then upload to a place like here, with your own account so it doesn't get deleted:
http://tinypic.com/

Makes for easy image hosting :D. It's a pain in the butt I know but we don't have the funding to enable avatar uploading yet :(.

As for signing in and out....I don't get signed out cause I click the "logged in forever" checkbox unless I'm at school. Maybe give that a go? :D

Thank you again, Bunny ! I will save the url and set up and account there, and hopefully, it is not beyond my tech level.
I think the signing out is an iPad thing, and it does that to me on a lot of forums, even when I (always) check the "keep me logged in" button.  On one forum, I can't even make paragraphs or leave spaces. Everything shows up as one garbled pile of words. When it first happened, I went back to try and fix it, and then it "ate" my whole post !
So, now I do a two part posting. I write it all up and post it with the iPad, and then I take the laptop, and go back through every post, make paragraphs, and whatever. It is a nuisance, but it achieves a readable post that way.

Usually, I try to remember to look and see if the forum has signed me out before I make a post, and on the chance that I don't do that, no other forum allows posts from guests, so it yells at me and says I can't do that ! !

That sounds completely awful! Where does that happen? You might have some issues with javascript or something if it uses a WYSIWYG editor (if you make text bigger or smaller and you see the changes that's a WYSIWYG editor). You should let the admin know, maybe they can fix it!

Actually, on that particular forum; I did message the forum owner, and he said that the version of whatever that they are using is not iPad-friendly. He said there was an update coming out that should fix the problem; so I just have to bear with the problem until the new update comes out.
It is only on the one forum, so I can live with it, even if the update doesn't fix it. This is the forum that I also help with moderating on, so I have to use the MacAir for that part, too.

I think that the signing out part is something to do with my iPad, since it happens on any forum from time to time. I just have to make sure it still says "signed in" before I hit the post button, and usually I copy the post first in case there is no "restore" function, and I have to re-write the whole post because I didn't look to make sure that I was signed in.

We have something called Sisyphus which should keep the post via javascript. Not sure if it works on iPad.

I like to write short articles about current events, stories about my life, and usually have a bit of humor to add to the mix. When I am telling a story, I want people to feel like they are right there with me, and visualizing every thing I am describing.
