Well do they exist, and are they lucky?

I'd say yes they exist because I have one but I can't say for sure if they're lucky or not.

It used to be in a frame but the frame was shattered when I moved from Germany. I found it at my old primary school (USA: Elementary school) in a patch of clover I used to always look in hoping to find a 4 leaf clover. I didnt know if they existed or not but I soon found proof!!

I'm afraid to take it out of the envelope...gimme time.

I think as far as luck is concerned, nothing is truly lucky.  As people we make them lucky, we make them noteworthy and apply that to them.  Some people have lucky socks, a lucky necklace, all sorts of lucky things.  It could be psychological, but maybe carrying these items has an effect on our behavior.  And if that's the case, the actual act of carrying or having these items around might be lucky as opposed to the object itself.

I reckon it could be psychological yeah. That makes a lot of sense. If it is, it would fall under the placebo affect.

But having something lucky is comforting :).

It's probably for those two reasons that why we have "lucky" charms.

I think they are because I never got them. Hmph. I would go outside and search for hours. My little sister, who would've been not much older than a toddler at that point.... would go out and find 3 or 4 at a time. Gah!! Lucky brat!

I have never been able to find one, but I know that they do exisit. I made one , one time by tapeing two clovers together. So I faked one, dose that make it unlucky. I don't associate luck with inanimate objects. Some people seem to have more luck then others, but I don't think it has to do with anything they are carrying around. They just have more charisima or something.

Yes they exist - they are pretty rare which is why it has been called "lucky" to find one - but remember, we make our own luck. I think the luckiest person was him/her who decided to "bottle" 4-leaved clovers and sell them. Well, what they actually did was mount them in those clear, key fobs  and in paper weights and other such sealed but see-through trinkets and sell them.

They were very popular in the 70's.

Especially in Ireland (where I fell for the scam and bought a  4 leaved clover key ring whilst on holiday). They went one step further in Ireland and tried to make the humble shamrock (clover) more than clover .... tere are people who still think that's it's illegal to pick shamrock and take it out of the country.

The blarney of it ..... anyhoo, 4 leaved or 3 they all taste the same to Nadine my little rescue bunny - although, so far as the flowers are concerned she does prefer purple clover to white.

I agree with this. All four leaf clovers are very rare but to find it, you must already have luck already inside of it. No object can give luck unless you believe it can. You will soon find out that you had luck all a long inside of you that the fourth leaf clover will just be another object to you for your valuables.

I've found one when I was a kid as well. I kept it and I suppose it brought me some luck but it could be just a coincidence. Many people collect lucky items that are believed to bring them luck and happiness but I don't really think that owning a particular thing could entirely change one's life.

I haven't seen one in a long time, which was probably about 8 years ago. It could mean to bring luck to you.

Yes they exist.  No, they are not particularly lucky.  They are a genetic mutation of a regular clover.

Then, it is very lucky to have found one since they are so hard to find! ha ha ;D

If you haven't read the complete anthology of Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy you should.  There's a parallel reality where three leaf clovers are the mutation, and four leaf clovers are the norm.  I thought it was interesting.

I have one but i am also not sure if they are lucky. I keep it because its in a frame and my grandad gave it to me. Anything he gave me i keep. If it isn't lucky its definitely sentimental.

I don't think they're very lucky. I mean, they're the ones that get picked out and killed.

That's very true! At the same time, they're the ones that get singled out, killed, and *treasured for years.* Some people put them in books or frames or whatever else....and not only save them, but show them off. While they lost their lives, they also live on in spirit for much, much longer than those that get run over by lawnmowers twice a week. :)

I've seen one before but I've had plenty of bad luck since then.

My junior school friends and I used to look for those in our school field. We never found any, but we would continue looking for one during recesses and lunch breaks. It's a great experience that I miss.

Is it good luck? I don't know, but the whole process of looking for it gave me a happy feeling with my friends, and that's what's nice about the whole event of finding 4-leaf clovers.

The last four leaf clover I found was a very long time ago, when I was a kid. Never found another one since.

Then again, I haven't exactly been looking, have I?

Isn't that what they say, "Seek and ye shall find?"

Don't seek, and ye won't find, I suppose.

A metaphor for the creative process, come to think of it. You hang about waiting for a creative impulse, it may not happen. You go looking for it, you're bound to find it in the most unlikely place.

Well I mentioned this in an early post of mine and I am actually as rare as a four leaf clover because I have ginger hair and blur eyes which is double recessive.

As for if they exists I hope so because that could mean I don't!

If they are lucky or not? I don't think so they're just rare.

What if they're rare because they're lucky? :P

Ha ha ha I love your thought process Djenius!

I've seen one before but I've had plenty of bad luck since then.

Maybe because you didn't take it you're cursed :P

About Bunny
Jade Elizabeth is an eccentric young woman who enjoys writing stories and poems with hidden deeper meanings. She is quoted saying “Writing to me is not a hobby. It's a passion. It's something that lets my thoughts expose themselves, and my heart shine through where other art could not.

Commonly her poems are inspired by love or depression, and are dedicated to the people who encouraged the emotion. Given the chance she will readily pull her poems apart, exposing the deeper and hidden meanings behind her words.

Her stories are usually unspoken messages to those close to her – giving every story a hidden meaning. Some things are better left unsaid, or in her case, expressed indirectly through stories.

Jade used to write Documentation for Simple Machines in her free time, but has since begun studying and working, which takes up most of her free time now.
